One of Miri's landmark hotels, centrally located with city views. An excellent base for day trips to Niah, Lambir Hills, and other Miri Division parks.

Mega Hotel is one of the larger 4-star properties in central Miri, located in the heart of the city's commercial district about 5 minutes' walk from the Bintang Megamall complex and 10 minutes from the Miri Waterfront. For travellers using Miri as a base for Niah National Park visits — and the city is the most common base, given Niah's accommodation limitations — the Mega offers full-service hotel facilities and a central location at mid-range prices.

The property has roughly 240 rooms across multiple floor levels, all with air conditioning, modern bathrooms, working desks, in-room safes, and Wi-Fi. Premium rooms and suites on the higher floors offer views over the city to the coast. The hotel's amenities include a fitness centre, a swimming pool, an in-house spa, and multiple food-and-beverage outlets. Breakfast (a sizeable buffet with both Malaysian and international options) is included with most rates.

For Niah National Park visits, Mega Hotel is well-positioned for the standard transit. The bus terminal for the Niah service is approximately 10 minutes by Grab from the hotel (taxi rank at the entrance). Buses to Batu Niah village depart roughly hourly from 07:00, and from Batu Niah the park is a further 15-minute taxi or boat ride. The full transit from the hotel to the park headquarters takes 2.5–3 hours each way. Alternatively, the hotel can arrange a private return car to Niah (typically MYR 250–350 round trip).

Central Miri itself is unremarkable as a tourist destination — it is fundamentally an oil-and-gas service town — but it offers practical facilities for travellers preparing for forest park visits. Within a five-minute walk of the Mega you have major shopping malls (Bintang Megamall, Imperial Mall), banks and ATMs, pharmacies, supermarkets, and a wide range of food options. The Tamu Muhibbah market for fresh produce and the Saturday/Sunday Tamu (open-air market) are short walks away and worth a visit.

Mega Hotel is best suited to travellers who want full-service hotel comfort, central location, and reliable transit access for Niah day trips. For those on tighter budgets, the smaller Miri properties offer adequate alternatives at half the price. For those wanting a more atmospheric stay, the smaller boutique hotels in Miri's older quarter near the Tua Pek Kong temple are worth considering. The Mega's value lies in its predictability — international-standard hotel facilities in central Miri at a price point well below the comparable properties in Kota Kinabalu or Kuala Lumpur.
