Visiting Niah National Park involves two separate fees — the general park entry fee and the cave-access fee — plus accommodation if staying overnight. This article lists every 2026 cost and the booking process.

Park entry fees

  • Adult non-Malaysian: MYR 20.00
  • Adult Malaysian: MYR 10.00
  • Child (under 18): MYR 7.00 (non-Malaysian) / MYR 3.00 (Malaysian)
  • Group rates (10+ persons): 10% discount on group bookings

Cave access fee (separate)

Access to the Great Cave and Painted Cave requires a separate cave permit purchased at the park office on the day of your visit:

  • Adult: MYR 5
  • Child: MYR 2

Accommodation at Niah

Park-operated accommodation rates (2026):

  • Forest hostel dormitory bed: MYR 15.75/night
  • Forest chalet (2-room): MYR 150/night
  • Camping (own tent): MYR 5/person/night

Permits for special activities

  • Cave photography (no tripod): Free with cave access permit
  • Cave photography (commercial): Separate permit required, apply 2 weeks in advance
  • Bird's nest collection: Restricted to licensed concession holders only
  • Archaeological research: Coordinated through the Sarawak Museum and Niah Archaeological Project

Bat exodus viewing

Watching the evening bat exodus is included in the cave permit. Arrive at the cave mouth platform at least 30 minutes before sunset. No additional fee.
