Getting to Niah from Miri
Niah National Park is located approximately 110 km south of Miri city, in Batu Niah sub-district. The journey takes approximately 1.5–2 hours by road. Miri is the nearest major city and has regular air connections to Kuala Lumpur, Kuching, and other Malaysian cities.
By Express Bus (Miri to Batu Niah)
Regular express buses depart from the Miri Sentral bus terminal (Pujut Terminal) to Batu Niah town. Journey time is approximately 1.5 hours; one-way fare is approximately MYR 15–20. Buses run throughout the day but frequency decreases in the afternoon.
From Batu Niah town, the park entrance is approximately 3 km. Local taxis and minivans connect the town to the park; the fare is approximately MYR 5–10.
By Taxi or Car Hire from Miri
A taxi from Miri airport or city centre directly to the park headquarters costs approximately MYR 80–120. Car hire is available at Miri airport from several international and local agencies; self-driving is the most flexible option for visitors with limited time.

- Day 1: Depart Miri, arrive Niah by 10 AM. Walk to Great Cave and Painted Cave. Stay overnight in the park.
- Day 2: Dawn walk in the park; watch morning swiftlet return. Drive to Lambir Hills National Park (30 min from Niah). Return to Miri by evening.
- Day 3: Explore Miri city — Miri City Fan, Petroleum Museum, local seafood along the waterfront.
